About SendShelf

An independent counter for newsletter platform pricing, run on the principle that a figure you cannot source is a figure you should not print.

SendShelf exists because newsletter pricing is the least comparable pricing in software, and almost every site that claims to compare it is quoting numbers it cannot source.

The problem is structural rather than dishonest. Subscriber-metered plans advertise one rung of a staircase; the rest sits behind a slider that cannot be read programmatically. So comparison sites transcribe it once, the vendor moves it, and the table stays up for two years looking exactly as confident as it did on the day it was correct.

This site takes the opposite position. Where a number is published, it is quoted with the date it was read. Where it is not, the page says so.

What gets checked, and how

Every price, subscriber cap, send allowance and percentage on this site comes from the vendor's own pricing page, support documentation or published terms. Each one is recorded in a facts ledger with its source address and the date of the reading, and anything that could not be confirmed at source is marked as unconfirmed and softened in the copy.

The pages carry a re-read date rather than a publication date for exactly that reason. A price is only true on a day.

What is never claimed here

Four things, permanently.

  • No deliverability or inbox-placement rates. Nobody publishes an audited figure and every third-party benchmark is an artefact of the seed list that produced it. The reasoning is in what a platform can and cannot promise about deliverability.
  • No hands-on measurements. No send speeds, no editor latency, no render times. None of it was measured, so none of it is claimed. Judgements here are assessments of documented capability.
  • No invented tier prices. If a vendor publishes only its entry rung, that is the only number quoted for it.
  • No testimonials, ratings or review counts. Nothing on this site is sourced from a marketplace or a customer quote.

How this is paid for

A number of the outbound links here earn this site a commission when a reader signs up through one. The price you pay is identical either way.

It does not buy position. The platform at the top of the rate card is the one with the most generous free tier in the category, which is not a ranking anybody optimising for commission would produce. The full arrangement is set out in the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Prices in this category move without announcement, and a re-read date is a promise about the past rather than the present. If a figure here has drifted, tell the counter and it will be checked and corrected rather than quietly left up.
